People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was founded in 1980 and based in Virginia as an animal rights organization seeking to end abuse against animals. While PETA always claims to have the best intentions for animals, their methods have been anything but respectable. Even if you ignore the fact that they objectify women by sexualizing them for the sake of gaining attention, or that they use tasteless marketing campaigns to compare the slaughtering of animals to the Holocaust of human beings, the truth is that PETA has euthanized more than 19,200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1998. With donations coming in all the time from rich celebrities like Pamela Anderson, Morrissey, and Paul McCartney, PETA has made itself the largest animal rights group in the world. While other animal rights groups criticize PETA for being too compromising and soft on action, PETA has also allegedly supported animal rights terrorist groups as well. For a group claiming to be in service to the ethical treatment of animals, it makes you wonder whether they know anything about ethics at all.
